After a ten-year break, the time had finally come again on 12 July 2025: the Dragon Boat Race in Flensburg celebrated a spectacular comeback! This event is also an important charity event organised jointly by the LEO Club Flensburg and the Lions Club Flensburg-Schiffbrücke. All race earnings will go to the Katharinen Hospice Flensburg, providing valuable support for its indispensable work.
With 52 teams competing in thrilling races on the Flensburg Fjord, the event was a resounding success and once again captivated the city. The atmosphere was electric, and the enthusiasm of the spectators and participants was overwhelming.
A Secop team was also there! With 18 rowers, a motivating drummer and two substitutes, we took on the sporting challenge. We completed three exciting races, the first two of which decided our place in the final race.
We completed our first race in a time of 1:11.77 minutes, which earned us a solid 31st place. But we knew we could do better! In the second race, we showed what we were made of: with a sensational time of 1:05.70 minutes, we catapulted ourselves into 13th place!
Sadly, we missed out on the silver medal by a hair's breadth – or to be more precise, by just one place. This meant that we couldn't improve our position in the actual final. So, our task in the last race was to defend our hard-fought 13th place. And we did so brilliantly with a time of 1:06.49 minutes!
We are incredibly proud of our performance and the team spirit we showed on the day. We fought hard, laughed and enjoyed the incredible atmosphere at the harbour to the fullest. A big thank you to everyone who cheered us on and supported us! It was an unforgettable day, and we are already looking forward to the next dragon boat race in Flensburg!
