Last Saturday, Secop enthusiastically participated in the Flensburg Dragon Boat Race with its own team. The event offered not only exciting competitions on the water but, above all, served as a strong symbol of community engagement and solidarity.
The event was organized by the LEO Club Flensburg and the Lions Club Flensburg-Schiffbrücke, which bring together numerous teams year after year to combine sports, team spirit, and charitable giving. The proceeds from the event support important social organizations in the region.
This year, the surplus funds will be donated to the Katharinen Hospiz am Park in Flensburg and Speisenkammer e.V.. Through these donations, the event supports people in need of care and assistance while making a valuable contribution to our local community.
From a sporting perspective, the day was also a great success for our team. Despite highly changeable weather conditions, including sunshine, rain, and shifting winds, we approached the races with determination and enthusiasm. The challenging conditions were reflected in our race times, but thanks to a strong team performance, we held our own against many competitors and ultimately achieved a respectable 27th place out of 70 teams.
Even more important than the sporting result, however, were the shared experience, the exceptional team spirit, and the fantastic atmosphere along the course. The day was filled with excitement, anticipation, hard work, joy, occasional frustration, and plenty of fun. We are especially proud of the unity and commitment shown by everyone involved, which contributed to this successful performance.
We would like to sincerely thank the organizers, all volunteers, and the many supporters who made this event possible. It is wonderful to be part of an event that not only brings people together but also makes a meaningful contribution to a worthy cause.
Because in the end, it is not only the teams on the water that win, but above all the people who benefit from the donations.
