Engineered for Domestic Hot Water Heat Pumps – 06.05.2026 Heat Pump Propane Compressors

Compact Size · Low Noise · Consistent Performance

Secop’s robust propane (R290) heat pump compressors are engineered to drive domestic hot water heat pumps. By utilising ambient air energy, these systems easily cover the annual hot water needs of two to three people, making them ideal for apartment complexes. With a typical tank capacity of up to 200 litres, they can produce roughly 600 litres of hot water within 24 hours. These compact, and powerful HC (hydrocarbon) refrigerant compressors offer up to 30% increased efficiency compared to HFC (hydrofluorocarbon) refrigerant solutions.

From 1 January 2027, heat pump manufacturers must complete the transition away from HFC refrigerants. The deadline is fixed. Secop's reciprocating propane heat pump compressors offer structural advantages over rotary solutions in for this kind of heat pump applications: low noise, compact size, stable performance throughout the entire product lifetime, and a robust design built for demanding operating conditions like high back pressure (HBP), liquid return and hot gas defrosting.

Furthermore, Secop heat pump compressors operate reliably at high evaporation temperatures and withstand extreme liquid refrigerant returns. To guarantee safety, the compressors feature a patented Secop hermetic terminal plug. This innovation ensures the secure use of R290 by preventing the root causes of electrical arcing commonly associated with flammable refrigerants.

Features and Benefits

  • Operate at high evaporation temperatures with high back pressure (HBP)
  • Low noise and vibration compared to other compressor technologies
  • No refrigerant losses ensure consistent performance and a longer operating life
